Cast iron, a steel cup, and a handle. Nothing to plug in and nothing to break.
Pull the lever and twelve oranges become a jug of juice in about four minutes. No motor whine, no oxidation from a spinning blade, no plastic housing that yellows in two years. This is the machine behind the counter at the juice bar, sized for a kitchen.
It weighs enough to stay put while you pull, which is the entire design problem with cheaper presses.
Details
- Cast-iron body with a rubberised base that grips the counter
- Food-grade 304 stainless funnel, strainer and 15oz cup
- 5" funnel — oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, pomegranate
- Strainer catches pith and seeds; funnel and strainer are dishwasher safe
- Feet swap for suction cups if you want it locked down
The honest notes
- It is heavy. That's the point, but it means this lives on the counter permanently — it is not going in a cupboard between uses.
- Citrus only. It will not juice celery, kale, carrot or anything fibrous. For those, you want a press with an auger.
- Pull steadily, not sharply. A hard fast pull can slide the base; steady a hand on it and you'll get more juice with less effort.
- Wipe the pressure cap, don't disassemble it daily. It comes apart with the included wrench when you need to, but you rarely need to.
One-year warranty. Realistically this outlives every other appliance in the kitchen.
